What to expect...

during Newborn Photoshoot or "all the little things we found handy"

Baby's First Photo-shoot

Newborn photo-shoot should ideally take place when they are up to 12 days old. They are still very flexible as they were when enjoying the comfort and safety of your womb. They tend to sleep very deeply and can be easily posed for those beautiful newborn photographs grinning while dreaming about being milk-drunk and cuddling their teddy. If your baby is older, do not despair, while they might not want to pose as much and it might take longer you will end up with a lots of memories and fantastic shots.

Safety

Your baby's well-being and safety comes first. That is why we have an extra heater on hand (as small babies cannot control their body temperature that well yet); you might find our home studio quite warm! While we have plenty of flash guns and studio lights we always aim to use natural light first for the comfort of the baby. Every pose we do is super safe. Mummy and Daddy are also asked to assist at all times.

When to book?

As soon as possible. The appointments go quickly and we would advise to book as soon as possible to prevent disappointment. You can use CONTACT section form to drop us a line and book your session well in advance. If you have not pre-booked you can still let us know; we might be able to offer you a free slot if any come up.

Where the photoshoot will happen?

You are always welcome at our home in Wimbledon. On very few occasion we can offer a photo-shoot at your home but these sessions tend to be longer, more complex and they are different price-wise also.

Preferences

When we are arranging your photoshoot it is important that you let us know what preferences you have for the final images. What colours or colour schemes of props you prefer, if you like black&white images, what sort of poses you would like to capture. Try to imagine seeing an image of your baby in 30 years time - how it would look like?

By the same token you are welcome to bring a few props of your own, especially if they represent a part of your family (daddy's firefighter helmet or tool box to act as a posing bowl create a beautiful memory for the child also and create a beautiful connection.

How long will the session take?

A few hours, sometimes even whole morning / afternoon. It all depends how comfortable your baby feels and how much is willing to cooperate. We always encourage you to feed the baby 1/2 h before the photoshoot (they like to have a good nap after they eat) and also anytime they feel like it during the session. We do not mind at all; we encourage feeding on demand. There can be as many breaks as you you/the baby wants for feeding, nappy changes and cuddles. While we will be busy working you will have a chance to enjoy your coffee or tea, water is provided at all times. We work in an informal home studio and we want everyone to have fun, enjoy the photoshoot and have a great time.

Sibling/Family Shots

It is a good idea to advise if you are planning also family or sibling shots. While we can provide toys and entertainment, older children tend to get quite bored quickly so it might be worth bringing Grandma around also to take them for a walk or to a playground. While the few hours will fly by, children wilWe can fit the sibling shots into the beginning or the end of the photoshoot.

Preparation for the photoshoot

You can try to keep the baby awake before the session by keeping it entertained and feed it about 1/2 h before the photoshoot. Dress baby in loose fitting clothes that you can easily remove,  this will ensure we can easily change her into props as required without waking the baby.

What to bring?

Lots of milk, the usual things for nappy changing (spare nappies; changing blanket, wipes, comfort blanket or dummy if your baby uses one. We have lots of different props, hats, etc but you are welcome to bring your special blanket, comforter or prop you would like to be featured in some of the photographs. If you are planning family pictures with your baby we would suggest to bring clothes for changing; black or white colours work the best or any other plain non-textured fabrics work also well; it is a good idea to colour-scheme your clothes. We reoommend bringing plenty of snacks for adults or older children also.

How much will it cost?

The biggest reward for us is that you are happy with the images of your baby and the memories you are taking away with you.
